What is a camera obscura
The camera obscura is one of the earliest types of camera to be made
it was made in the 1800's and was used to trace portraits of people like the one on the right of the page. This has been used to trace everything from animals to buildings and is still used today by a artist called Abelardo Morell. The camera obscura images are always moving unless taken by a different type of camera also the pictures are upside down and reversed. |

My personal camera obscura
I made my camera obscura using a large, thin cardboard tube and a small, fat tube with grease proof paper over the thin tube and tin foil on the fat tube then I simply used the very tip of a pin to pierce the tin foil so a image can appear with the little amount of light let into the tubes.

Examples of camera obscuras
These are examples of handmade camera obscuras that have been made in different ways than mine but I believe mine is the easiest to make out of all of them

These camera obscuras are other interesting designs that have been built or are available to buy that are different to the ones above.
