Light paintingThe word photography translates as drawing (or writing) with light:
photo = from the Greek phos meaning light graph = from the Greek graphe meaning writing Photograms (and Rayographs) are close to pure light drawings because they do not need a camera to generate the image. However, in the early 20th century artists and others began experimenting with long exposures of moving lights in order to create light drawings. Frank Gilbreth attempted to improve the efficiency of office workers by tracking their hand movements using small light bulbs. Man Ray attempted to create what he called 'space writing'. The photographer Gjon Mili captured a famous series of images of Picasso drawing with light. He also experimented with multiple exposures by setting of the flash repeatedly during a long exposure. Contemporary artists like John Hesketh continue to experiment with coloured lights and filters to make extremely complex and exciting images. |

These photos here are light photos me and my group made, we made 4 good photos and 3 bad photos in all the ones next to this writing are the good photos due to the light being a huge part of the image with me in the back ground. the last two are my favourite since they came out close to how i imagined them and the first two are pictures i though up and did not look how i thought they would. To make these photos we needed cameras with long exposure settings small hand held light in different colours and a flash gun.

These photos are the photos with lots of errors in like being out of focus and being to over exposed which is a shame and I hope to try one or two of them again to make a comparison between the two.

Harold Eugene "Doc" Edgerton was largely credited with transforming the stroboscope from an obscure laboratory instrument into a common device known as the stroboscopic lamp. He also was deeply involved with the development of sonar and deep-sea photography.

A strobe light or stroboscopic lamp, commonly called a strobe, is a device used to produce regular flashes of light. It is one of a number of devices that can be used as a stroboscope. The word originated from the Greek strobos, meaning "act of whirling." strobe lighting in light photography is usually used to multiply an object in the image multiple times.
